To heighten understanding of the University's commitment to ethical conduct, an online Ethics Briefing was required of all campus employees hired before April 2007. A Conflict of Interest Briefing was also required for all faculty at that time. Everyone who had an email address on file received an email from [email protected] with a personalized link that directs them to their online modules. If you have not completed your course(s), please follow the instructions below and use the "UCLA Portal" to access your individualized link to them.
ONLY EMPLOYEES THAT WERE HIRED BEFORE APRIL 2007 ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE TRAINING AT THIS TIME. UCLA Medical Center employees will be enrolled in an Ethics Briefing later in 2008. Implementation plans for UCLA Health System employees will be announced separately.
The online briefing helps familiarize employees with the Statement of Ethical Values and Ethical Conduct and Conflict of Interest that were adopted formally by the Board of Regents in May 2005, with the endorsement of the President and the Chancellors. The briefings offer a common set of standards regarding the University's ethical values and clearly defines the behavioral conduct that is expected of all UC Employees.
The online course, developed by the Office of the President and Workplace Answers, can be accessed on any computer with an Internet connection and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete (to listen to President Dynes' introduction, computer speakers or headphones will be needed).
Several interactive scenarios will give you the opportunity to ponder possible Ethical/Conflict of Interest challenges in the workplace, and the programs also includes reference materials and resource information.
