Geriatrics Inpatient Teaching Services

Welcome!

On behalf of the entire faculty of the Division of Geriatrics in the Department of Medicine, we welcome you to the Geriatrics Inpatient Teaching Service at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center. We hope this educational experience will provide you with an excellent opportunity to learn how to provide quality care to frail, hospitalized older adults and how to lead an interdisciplinary team in the provision of this care under the supervision of dedicated faculty. The Geriatrics Team is comprised of two residents, Blue and Gold, and one or two attending physicians. Other interdisciplinary team members include the nursing staff, a geriatric pharmacist, clinical case manager, nurse practitioner, rehabilitation therapists, social worker, dietitian, and chaplain.

In order to optimize your preparation for this rotation, please review the Nuts and Bolts before you start. On your first day, please do not forget to ask for your copy of the latest edition of the popular handbook, Geriatrics At Your Fingertips, from your supervising faculty at the start of your rotation.  It’s your gift from the Division of Geriatrics.
