Dear Friends,

I hope that you and your loved ones are enjoying good health and togetherness.

I write now to ask for your help in supporting our research efforts.  As you know, the mission of the UCLA Endocrine Center reaches beyond providing world-class care to patients like you.  We are also committed to advancing the state of the art in the treatment of endocrine diseases - creating improved methods, new technologies, and scientific discoveries that will improve the lives of patients everywhere.

Examples of UCLA Endocrine research in action:

We published a landmark study in the Annals of Internal Medicine showing that parathyroid surgery reduces the long-term risk of fractures in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism.  The risk of hip fractures - which take a substantial toll on the health of Americans every year - was reduced by 65%.

We developed a new, minimally invasive method of performing surgery for adrenal tumors: single-incision retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy.  Dr. Masha Livhits, UCLA Endocrine Surgeon, spearheaded this effort.

We continue to refine the use of molecular profiling for thyroid tumors, in order to help more people avoid thyroid surgery when possible.

Have we improved your life in some way? Have we helped you to move past a difficult time and get back to the activities and people that you love? Consider a donation to help the next person who walks through our doors get to that same positive place. Even if you are unable to give at this time, we thank you for your goodwill which inspires us each day.
