Biography
I was first introduced to the fascinating world of vision research as an undergraduate student researcher at UCLA studying the function of Peropsin, a non-visual opsin, in the RPE cells. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry in 2016, I joined Dr. Radu group as laboratory assistant to characterize disease mouse models developed in the lab and investigate retinoid processing in the RPE. I continued to pursue my research interests in macular degeneration pathogenesis by staying on in the Radu Lab for my PhD studies in 2017 under the department of Molecular Cellular and Integrative Physiology. My studies include investigating molecular mechanisms in the RPE that lead to Stargardt disease using biochemical, molecular biological, and cell imaging techniques. In the future, I hope to utilize my research background to contribute to development of maculopathy therapeutics. In my free time, I love reading, baking, and doing Pilates.
