• Project Scientist

A Project Scientist position is available at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute and Department of Ophthalmology to study and computationally model the biomechanics of the ocular motor system, including loading of the eye by the optic nerve. We are seeking a scientist with experience in biomechanical testing and finite element analysis of soft tissues, including the eye, optic nerve, and extraocular muscles and tissues. We are seeking an independent and motivated individual with excellent bioengineering, computational, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written). Qualified candidates should have a PhD and at least two years post-doctoral fellowship experience in mechanical engineering, bioengineering or related field, as well as a strong ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting with basic scientists and clinicians.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The UCLA Stein Eye Institute, Doheny Eye Centers-UCLA, and Department of Ophthalmology at the David Geffen School of Medicine invite applications for a faculty position with an emphasis on comprehensive ophthalmology at UCLA Health and affiliated sites. Applicants should be dedicated to teaching and exemplary patient care, professional activities, creative contributions to administrative, academic or research activities, and service to the University and to the profession. Subspecialty training is preferred. Candidates must be board certified and eligible for medical licensure in the State of California.
