Publications for the Department of Ophthalmology, UCLA

For more than 50 years, Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) and UCLA’s Department of Ophthalmology have had a fruitful partnership as they pursue a shared goal: the commitment to research that leads to the prevention, treatment, or eradication of diseases that threaten vision.

Dr. Jules Stein founded RPB in 1960, when little was known about the eye and its disorders. The Stein Eye Institute and Research to Prevent Blindness are products of Dr. Stein’s passionate commitment to reducing the burden of blindness through vision research.

We are proud and honored that vision research in the Department of Ophthalmology has received consistent and strong support from RPB in the past half century.
