The intragastric balloon is a treatment that has been used for over thirty years worldwide as a treatment for obesity. The procedure consists of the endoscopic placement of a soft round fluid filled balloon in the stomach, which may activate stretch receptors, delay stomach emptying and activate satiety inducing hormones leading to increased satiety (fullness) and reduced food intake. The device is placed temporarily, typically for six months. The latest iterations of these devices recently gained FDA approval in 2015, and we are currently offering this treatment as part of a comprehensive weight loss program.
