Dr. Faure-Kumar was then recruited as an independent scientist at IntraGene Sciences company, affiliated with the University of Southern California. She was responsible for establishing state-of-the art molecular biology and gene therapy techniques that are important for gene delivery. Her main research project was aimed at developing novel gene delivery methods using hybrid adenovirus and lentivirus system ( HyVec), which combines the advantages of both the adenovirus and lentivirus. She continued her work in Dr. Kasahara's lab and moved with Dr. Kasahara's team to University of California of Los Angeles in 2003. Dr. Faure-Kumar became the lab manager and the supervisor of the UCLA vectorcore, which consisted of giving consultations and producing viruses for the researchers at UCLA and outside of UCLA as well. After five years as supervisor, she was given responsibility for operational management of the Molecular Vector Core, including staff supervision, regulatory compliance with ARC & IBC, technical support and troubleshooting for clients, and new vector & applications development.
Dr. Faure-Kumar was recruited in 2014 as a chief operating officer and leader of the genetic engineering platform. With center directors, she will run and manage the Center for Systems Biomedicine which is a fully equipped genomic profiling and high-throughput molecular screening facility.
