We know that gender-affirming care helps people live healthier lives. Scientific studies have repeatedly shown the benefits of gender-affirming care, but these studies are being misrepresented in legislative efforts across the U.S.. Numerous states have adopted or are considering laws that prohibit gender-affirming care for transgender and gender-diverse youth. These laws are harmful not only to the people in those states, but to all in our community who are hearing their lives mischaracterized and feeling a loss of control over their health and well-being. The UCLA Gender Health Program affirms the statement made by the American Academy of Pediatrics. ALL patients deserve access to high-quality, science-driven health care. We want you to know that we remain committed to serving our patients, and to advocating for access to compassionate and high-quality care.

The UCLA Gender Health Program strives to offer comprehensive medical and surgical care to the transgender and gender diverse community in Los Angeles and across the country. We bring together experts from medical and surgical disciplines to deliver a broad array of services to our patients. Recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation as a “Leader in LGBTQ+ Health Equality,” UCLA Health specializes in providing sensitive, safe, compassionate care to all patients who come through our doors.
