About the Fellowship

In July of 2020, UCLA will offer a new, completely integrated, two-year Geriatric, Palliative Care and Hospice Combined Fellowship. We will draw upon the expertise of our current, independent fellowships in Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care to create an experience that will allow the fellow to be eligible to sit for both boards at the end of the two-year training. In addition to traditional rotations, the fellow will have continuity experiences in both Geriatrics and Palliative Care that span both years, and the fellowship will allow for eight months of protected time for scholarly activities, such as research, quality improvement, development of educational material and writing for publication. The combined fellowship will be co-directed by Dr. Nancy Weintraub, our Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Director, and Dr. Christopher Pietras, the Director of Palliative Care at UCLA. We will accept applications through ERAS from candidates who will be board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, and we will participate in the Fellowship Match.
