Residents must sign on to the virtual pager at the start of their admitting time.
Each day, one of the teams will take Short Call, the other Long Call. For example, Blue resident will take Short Call, and Gold resident will take Long Call.
Long Call is every 4th night. Short Call is every 4th day.
All patients must be signed out at the end of the day to the Long Call resident for the night, and active issues are to be reviewed in-person or over the telephone.
If a patient requires evaluation overnight, the Resident On Call is expected to see the patient promptly. Some overnight issues can be addressed by telephone with the nursing staff. You are required to have remote access to Care Connect so that you can review charts and write orders remotely, if necessary.
To ensure that H&Ps are documented in a timely manner, please complete all H&Ps within 4 hours of admission. All H&Ps should be signed no later than 11:00 AM on Post-Call day. Post-Call residents need to sign their H&Ps before going home.
