Welcome to the Ackerman Student Union Donor Center. Thank you for selecting UCLA to facilitate your generous blood and platelet donations.

The Ackerman Student Union Donor Center is conveniently located on the UCLA Campus and near the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. In addition, this center is located near the food court and shopping areas on campus. The campus friendly donor center offers an intimate and pleasant environment where amazing acts of kindness happen each and everyday. This particular center is the smallest of the two but provides essential blood products to our hospital patients. We welcome faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Parking is available for donors at a nearby parking structure. To learn more, please read below.

General Information:

Bruin Penelope Vasquez donates blood (photo by Rich Schmitt - UCLA Today)Each year, thousands of generous faculty, staff and students regularly donate blood and platelets to help meet the needs of patients receiving care at UCLA Hospitals. However, only between 65-80 percent of what UCLA patients need is collected through our donor centers. Some of the reasons include the limited shelf-life of blood and platelets products and the increase in the number of transplants performed at our hospitals. Therefore, the need for blood and platelet donations at UCLA continues to grow.

Patients' lives depend on donors like you. Please consider scheduling your life-saving appointment today.

Hero Bruin Bear.To donate or for additional information, call (310) 825-0888  extension 2 or e-mail us at gotblood@mednet.ucla.edu. Walk-ins  are welcome at our centers.

National Marrow Donor Program®:

In partnership with Be The Match®,  operated by the National Marrow Donor Program®, donors have the opportunity to register at the Ackerman Student Union Donor Center to be part of the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world.

For more information, please visit the Be The Match® website or contact us at (310) 267-0284.

The goal of the UCLA Blood & Platelet Center is to provide patients with safe blood collected from volunteer donors. Like all other facilities in the nation that collect blood, we must follow FDA rules about who may donate. To determine eligibility, visit our Eligibility Page.
