A Message From Our Medical Director

On behalf of the UCLA Blood & Platelet Center, I would like to thank you for your recent donation during this uncertain time of COVID-19. No words can aptly capture the gift that you have given by donating your blood.

For a limited time, the UCLA Blood & Platelet Center will test for COVID-19 antibodies. This one-time testing, offered at the time of your blood or platelet donation, is an additional health benefit that may help determine your previous exposure to the coronavirus.

The COVID-19 antibody test will screen for COVID-19 antibodies in your blood. The test will detect circulating antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, regardless of whether you have had COVID-19 symptoms in the past. This test does not test for the presence of COVID-19 disease or check for the presence of active COVID-19 infection.

Following a successful donation, your confidential test results will be provided to you through our secure UCLA email server. Please allow two to three weeks from your donation to receive this email.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, UCLA patients remain in dire need of life-saving blood products. We encourage you to continue to donate at our center or one of our mobile sites. You may schedule your appointment online at uclahealth.org/gotblood/ or by calling (310) 825-0888 select option 2.

Thank you again for donating with the Blood and Platelet Center and supporting UCLA patients. We hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,
