In our laboratory we are exploring the function of the auditory system from three perspectives:
We seek for a comprehensive understanding of the structure and function of sensory and supporting cells from the auditory epithelium. Our intention is broad-based and aimed at elucidating the role of each cellular population in auditory function as well as create a foundation for future strategies in preventing damages to the auditory system. The last area of interest has a more immediate application: the development of intervention strategies to prevent or ameliorate drug- and noise-induced hearing loss.
