As part of a preeminent academic medical center, the UCLA Aortic Center is not only providing cutting-edge treatments today, we are constantly conducting research and clinical studies to bring the latest innovations to our patients. The list below describes the work of our active clinical trials.

Clinical Trials. UCLA Aortic Center.

  • Aortic Aneurysms: UCLA is one of five worldwide centers participating in the clinical trial studying use of the Endologix Fenestrated Stent Graft System for fenestrated endovascular repair of aneurysms located in the renal arteries near the kidneys. We are also studying its safety and effectiveness for juxtarenal and pararenal aortic aneurysms.
  • Aorto-iliac Aneurysms: This trial studies the effectiveness of the Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis (IBE) for treating common iliac artery aneurysms and aorto-iliac aneurysms. The IBE helps preserve flow to the iliac artery during endovascular stent grafting.
  • High Cholesterol:  The CANTOS Trial is an international trial examining the potential anti-inflammatory effect of a new agent (cankinumab) in patients with high cholesterol and a prior history of a heart attack.
  • High Cholesterol:  The Odyssey Trial is a global phase III trial investigating the safety and efficacy of an investigational injectable drug for patients with high cholesterol who are not well controlled on their current medical regimen.
