About

Dr. Houman Solomon completed his Doctor of Medicine as well as two Master of Science degrees (Pathology and Applied Physiology) at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago in 2002. After graduating from medical school, he completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA. Dr. Solomon is board certified in general surgery, by the American Board of Surgery. He also completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic, bariatric, and robotic surgery (Minimally Invasive Surgery) at Stanford University Medical Center.

His main areas of interest include bariatric surgery and the incorporation of laparoscopic and robotic techniques into gastrointestinal, hernia, and cancer operations. Dr. Solomon has authored numerous publications in various areas of surgery throughout his career. He is a member of several surgical societies, including the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and recently became one of the few weight-loss surgeons in the world to receive the prestigious title of "Fellow of American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery" (FASMBS). He is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and American Hernia Society. Dr. Solomon is a pioneer in the field of minimally invasive surgery and had brought "scarless" surgery to the Southbay. He currently serves as Chief of Department of Surgery at Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Director of Bariatric Surgery at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center, Torrance.
