COVID-19 Related Requests for Accommodation or Workplace Adjustment Guideline (8/21/2020)

During this COVID-19 pandemic, employees who are at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 may request reasonable accommodations or workplace adjustments. This includes employees who are older adults and are at increased risk due to age and/or who are at increased risk due to underlying medical conditions. Please check the CDC's COVID-19 website for the most up to date information about people at increased for severe illness

LA County CARES Act Funding for Essential Worker Child Care

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the City of Los Angeles have dedicated part of their CARES Act funding to provide child care services (vouchers) for essential workers and low-income working parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles (CCALA) and its partner agencies will distribute these funds to eligible essential workers.

Over the coming months, we’ll expand the Employee Experience Center to incorporate additional HR services and knowledge articles into the portal as we continue to enhance the employee experience.

Effective June 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020, policy-covered staff will continue to accrue PTO or vacation beyond their policy maximums. 

Departments and employees will not need to submit exception requests as UC Path will automatically allow continued accruals during this time period.

New paid family leave benefit approved for UC faculty and staff

UC's Council of Chancellors has unanimously approved a recommendation for a new paid family leave benefit for UC employees, effective July 1, 2021. This recommendation, supported by President Napolitano and Systemwide Human Resources, provides eight weeks of leave at 70% of wages for UC faculty and staff who need time off to care for a seriously ill family member or bond with a new child.

Mandatory enrollment in the UCLA Health daily symptom tracking survey tool

To ensure that we continue to take steps to protect our patients and each other, we will be converting from the current voluntary system of symptom reporting to mandatory enrollment and daily completion in our electronic symptom tracking tool (also referred to as the Qualtrics Survey). This requirement will begin on Monday, July 13 at 6 am for all UCLA Health locations for all UCLA Health staff, faculty, and trainees.
