Path Forward to Retirement for Staff 2021

The path to retirement, while exciting and full of promise, can sometimes be unexpectedly bumpy. In partnership with UCLA’s Campus Human Resources (CHR), the UCLA Emeriti/Retirees Relations Center (ERRC) is pleased to offer a new three-part workshop series to help UCLA staff navigate the road to this next life chapter. These workshops are designed for staff who are within five years of retirement. All three sessions will be held in Zoom Meeting Format:

  1. UC Retirement Plan and Retiree Health Benefits (Friday, January 15, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)
  2. Preparing Financially for Retirement (Friday, January 22, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)
  3. Work/Life Transitions (Friday, January 29, 2 – 3 p.m.)

Click here for complete session descriptions, speaker profiles and the link to registration (PDF). You are encouraged to register for all three classes; however, if you have already taken CHR’s “Planning Your UC Retirement” workshop, you do not need to register for session 1.

For those who are unable to attend the workshops, UC and Fidelity provide webinars and printed resources on retirement topics:

  1. UC Retirement Plan and Retiree Health Care: The UC Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) has produced a Preparing to Retire webinar. This webinar is the same presentation that will be given during session 1 of the Path Forward to Retirement workshop series. In addition, detailed information is available in the UC Retirement Handbook (PDF) and on the UCNet Retirement web page.
  1. Financial Planning for Retirement and Social Security: Fidelity offers several resources on these topics, including webinars, online resources, classes on the UCLA campus and one-on-one appointments. For more information, visit the My UC Retirement website or call Fidelity at 866-682-7787.
  1. Work/Life Transitions: this workshop does not really lend itself to a webinar because much of it is interactive. The UCLA Emeriti/Retirees Relations Center (ERRC) publishes a Steps to Retirement brochure (PDF) that outlines the steps one can take within five years of retirement to help ensure a smooth transition.
