About

Loris Y. Hwang, MD, MS is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at UCLA, where she is the Director of the Reproductive Health Clinical and Research Program.

Dr. Hwang completed her pediatrics residency at UCLA and spent 6 years working in community general pediatrics practices at the Tulalip Indian Health Clinic near Seattle and several clinic sites within Public Health of Seattle and King County. Her experiences working in a Public Health Teen Clinic inspired her to specialize in Adolescent Reproductive Health. She went on to complete both the LEAH Adolescent Medicine fellowship and a T32 research fellowship at UCSF. In her faculty years at UCSF, Dr. Hwang introduced LARC services (long-acting reversible contraception: IUDs and Nexplanon arm implant) for patients in the UCSF Adolescent Medicine Clinic and trained fellows in these procedures. At UCLA (Westwood and Santa Monica locations), she has established a Reproductive Health Clinic for adolescents and young adults that includes services for patients with complex medical conditions. As part of comprehensive care for menstrual issues and contraceptive needs, Dr. Hwang places IUDs and contraceptive arm implants directly in her clinics. Additionally, she provides women’s health care at UCLA Arthur Ashe Student Health Center.
