Dr. Maira Campos is a hematologist/oncologist who practices in Westlake Village and Westwood. She specializes in gynecologic malignancies, and also treats patients who have general hematologic and oncologic disorders. She is board certified in internal medicine and committed to increasing the quality of life for patients with cancer.
Dr. Campos is from Brazil, and received both her medical degree and Master of Public Health degree from the Faculdade de Medicina do ABC in Sao Paulo. She then completed an internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital—the teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine—where she was named an outstanding resident in ambulatory care. She completed her fellowship training in hematology/oncology at UCLA.
During her fellowship, Dr. Campos worked with Dr. Dennis Slamon’s Translational Oncology Research Laboratory to create the first comprehensive cervical cancer cell database to advance knowledge of this disease. She is interested in improving outcomes for patients with ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancer through clinical trials.
During her medical training, Dr. Campos provided free healthcare and health education to in-need Brazilian communities for 7 years. She also participated in Project Medishare, to provide quality healthcare to Haitians, after the catastrophic 2010 earthquake.
When she’s not working, Dr. Campos enjoys spending time with her two little kids and the rest of her family.
