Jacob is the definition of active. He loves playing sports, running around outside and riding his bike with neighborhood friends. But the fun-loving nine-year-old found himself struggling to keep active due to growing leg pains and the development of a limp, which prompted his mom Stephanie to take him to his pediatrician.
After numerous medical exams, Jacob was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a cancer that affects the body’s bones and soft tissues. Since being transferred to UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital for treatment, Jacob has celebrated many milestones and has overcome more challenges than most adults face in a lifetime. He has undergone numerous procedures and surgeries and has spent six months restricted to a wheelchair and walker.
After spending over 105 days in the hospital, Jacob finally completed his treatment in January – surrounded by family and staff! The strength, courage and determination shown by Jacob and his family inspire all who are lucky enough to know them! Congratulations on being UCLA’s Kid Captain!!
