LINX® is a minimally invasive procedure to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The procedure is done laparoscopically through several small incisions on the upper abdomen. A flexible band constructed of titanium beads containing magnetic core is placed around the lower portion of the esophagus. This band with its magnetic properties creates a valve between the esophagus and the stomach. When the food is being swallowed, the band loosens up to allow the food passage into the stomach. Alternately, its design does not permit the contents of the stomach from backing up into the esophagus, thus preventing acid reflux. View patient handout that explains what to expect after your LINX® procedure
