Find your care
Anna Peery, MSN, CNM, WHNP
A wise midwife once told me, “midwifery is something that chooses you rather than something chosen by you.” As a little girl, I remember the times a midwife came to our home in Big Bear City to deliver my younger sister and then again to deliver my younger brother four years later. She brought our family together in a beautiful and sacred celebration of new life. Those brief but weighty encounters with that first midwife planted the seed of midwifery in me.
I completed my bachelor’s in nursing from Biola University. After three years of experience as a labor and delivery nurse, I completed my master’s in nursing from Cal State Fullerton with certifications as a nurse midwife (CNM) and women’s health nurse practitioner (WHNP). During that time, I gained valuable birth center and hospital experience. I also participated in service-learning opportunities in Latin America and Eastern Africa. In all my endeavors, I embrace diversity and am passionate about helping vulnerable populations. Now at UCLA, I am happy to be part of an excellent team of midwives that offers a balanced and comprehensive approach to natural childbirth.
I see pregnancy and childbirth as a miraculous ushering in of new life to be celebrated, supported and protected. Through pregnancy and childbirth, women become mothers, men become fathers and children become sisters and brothers. I desire to strengthen families and empower women to recognize their innate ability to nurture and bring forth life. I look forward to supporting you and your family through pregnancy, during the childbirth process and beyond!
