This is part of our National Rehabilitation Awareness Month Educational Series in September. It is intended for community members (non‑therapists) and is not approved for CEUs.

Course Description: This course will offer a summary of the patient population, purpose, and exercise plans for the science-backed role of cardiac rehab (CR) in the recovery process for cardiac patients. 

Course Objectives: By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Determine who is eligible and how to access CR care.
  • Understand the holistic approach and modifiable lifestyle changes for a healthy cardiovascular future.

Instructor Bio

Lukas

Lukas Smith, RN, MSN, CNL

Lukas Smith is a Cardiac Rehab nurse since 2020 with an extensive history in cardiovascular care from the inpatient setting. He is a graduate of the UCLA School of Nursing's MECN program and a board-certified Cardiac Vascular Nurse (CV-BC). He is an avid runner, weightlifter, snowboarder with a long history of exercise programming and personal training.
