Visionary Award
Edie Baskin Bronson
When NBC’s Saturday Night Live premiered in 1975, Edie’s original hand-tinted portraits of the guest hosts and the title sequences established the show’s signature graphic style. In 1976 Edie’s work was nominated for two Emmy Awards and this imagery soon became Saturday Night Live’s visual trademark and a new form of pop culture.
In 1982 Edie was again nominated for her work on the title sequence of CBS’s Square Pegs. In 2015 Edie was also honored with an Emmy Award for her work on the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special. The work Edie is most proud of after SNL is her work on Terrance Malick’s Academy Award-winning “Days of Heaven” in which she created the title sequence. In 2009, Edie donated to the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center her SNL character portraits as “UCLA’s Wall of Laughter”.
