The stroke education requirements and criteria are listed below for the RRUCLA and SMUCLA stroke units, Emergency Departments, and Post-Anesthesia Care Units. Please select education from option 1 and/or 2 to meet this requirement.

Nurses providing comprehensive stroke care are required to attend a minimum of eight hours of education on neurovascular disease and stroke.
6 North, 6 ICU, Neuro Interventional Cath Lab, Critical Care Transport team (CCT), and Clinical Surveillance Team (CST) nurses
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Charge Nurses (Administrative Nurse AN I and other clinical positions)
Stroke Center Nurse Administrative Director
Gonda Observation Unit (GOU) Nurses, Nurse Educators, and Charge Nurses (Administrative Nurse AN I and other clinical positions)
Nurses providing comprehensive stroke care are required to attend a minimum of eight hours of education on neurovascular disease and stroke.
Stroke Unit Nurses (5MN, 4CW-ICU, and STAT RNs), Clinical Nurse Specialist, Unit Directors, and Assistant Directors
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Charge Nurses (Administrative Nurse AN I and other clinical positions)
Interventional Radiology Nurses and Interventional Suite Manager(s) and Director(s)
5MN, 4CW-ICU Nurses, Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Charge Nurses are required to complete NIHSS Training every 1 year
ED Nurses are required to complete a minimum of 2 hours of continuing education on acute stroke care twice a year. A total of 4 hours or more for the year.
PACU Nurses are required to complete continuing education on neurovascular disease and stroke two or more hours of education per year.
