New Knowledge, Innovations and Improvements Council (NK Council)
Purpose:
This council addresses evidence based practice, nursing research, and innovations in nursing practice. The NK Council will work to contribute to the science of nursing by developing new models of care through the application of existing and/or new evidence. Further, the council will help drive continuous improvement and innovation at the local level by integrating and adapting industry best-practices.
Scope of activity includes the following:
I. Research
- Nurses at all levels evaluate and use published research findings in their practice
- Direct-care nurses support the human rights of participants in research
- Structure/process used by the organization to develop, expand, and/or advance nursing research
- The organization disseminates knowledge generated through nursing research
II. Evidence-Based Practice
- Structure/process used to evaluate existing nursing practice, based on evidence
- Structure/process used to translate new knowledge into nursing practice
III. Innovation
- Innovations in nursing practice
- Structures/process by which nurses are involved with: 1) Evaluation and allocation of technology and IT systems to support practice, or 2) Architecture and space design to support practice
