COURSE DESCRIPTION
Resilience is an emerging theme in healthcare organizations that recognize the importance of self-care for patients and their caregivers. Participants in this Symposium will be able to verbalize and demonstrate strategies for self-care and increased resilience while acting as caregivers to patients with complex and incurable illnesses.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CONTACT HOURS
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 12511 for 8 hours.
UCLA Health is accredited as a provided of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Nurses will be awarded 7 ANCC contact hours for participation in the activity.
Clinical Social Work at UCLA Health, Provider #1482, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Clinical Social Work at UCLA Health maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 10/17/17 to 10/17/20. Social Workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval. Social Workers participating in this conference will receive 6 Continuing Education Clock Hours.
Nurses and Social Workers: No Partial CE credit given. Must attend all sessions.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER Dr. Bursch is a medical psychologist with clinical and research interests in pediatric pain, palliative care, somatization, and illness falsification. She has presented lectures at professional conferences within the United States and abroad and has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters. She is co-author of a book published in 2012, "How Many More Questions?" Techniques for Clinical Interviews of Young Medically Ill Children, Oxford University Press. Dr. Bursch is a Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and Pediatrics, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and the Clinical Director of Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation Liaison Service, Lynda & Stewart Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital. |
