UCLA Health was asked to be the care provider for the federal program to house and reunify unaccompanied children who arrived at the US border.   Drawing on prior experience with large-scale rapid response emergency pop-up medical care, UCLA Health helped to immediately convert the Long Beach Convention Center into a 1000-bed medical facility.  The West Medical OB/GYN Clinic was an integral part of this humanitarian medical mission with the speedy assembly of multi-disciplinary providers- specialists, residents, social work, and fellows- to care for these young patients and help prepare them for the journey back to their families.
