Setting Up a New Study

Research investigators must submit an application prior to initiating a research protocol. Please note that PRP participation will depend on the study requirements. To apply, complete the Online Application if you are a UCLA affiliate, or send an e-mail to CPRS@mednet.ucla.edu. We look forward to working with you and your team!

Online Application

Specimen Transport

The quality of laboratory results is contingent upon the quality of specimens submitted. Proper specimen procurement, transport, and processing are essential to obtaining valid and timely results. All requisitions and specimens received must meet defined criteria for identification, collection, volume, and testing to be processed. Prepare your specimens according to requirements in Lexicomp. All samples are to be sent to 10833 Le Conte Avenue, CHS A2-236, Los Angeles, CA 90095. Each specimen must be accompanied by either a PRP-generated requisition or an established electronic order. Research testing is confined to our hours of operations Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Saturday – Sunday, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Samples delivered outside of these hours may only be processed with prior PRP laboratory approval.

Billing & Lab Results

Research investigators will be billed monthly. Please notify the lab if there are funding (recharge ID and/or FAU) changes. Research subjects can be identified by UCLA ID or Anonymous ID. For those identified by UCLA ID, lab results are available through our UCLA Health Systems Electronic Medical Record (EMR). For those identified by Anonymous ID, results do not cross over to the EMR. Results are only obtained by hardcopy printouts assigned to a designated network printer or fax. A hardcopy of the results will not be filed in a patient’s chart.
