The Breast Pathology Fellowship at UCLA is a one-year, non-ACGME accredited multi-disciplinary program in Breast Pathology. The Fellow will be involved in the daily sign-out of all outreach breast specimens, supervision of residents rotating on the in-house Breast Service, and staffing the weekly Multi-Disciplinary Tumor Board. The Fellow will also have rotations in Breast Imaging (2 weeks), Breast Surgical Oncology (2 weeks) and Molecular Pathology/Cytogenetics (2 weeks). Once sufficient competency has been demonstrated the Fellow will have individual sign-out responsibility on the Breast Pathology Service with back-up support from the other faculty members in Breast Pathology.
All fellows also spend one rotation as a frozen section/gross room supervisor at The Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center and complete a one-month general surgical pathology rotation at Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center.
Fellows will have the opportunity to independently sign-out clinical cases and perform intraoperative/frozen section consultations. There will be a proctoring process in place to determine the fellow’s readiness to have these clinical privileges
