RESIDENCY OVERVIEW

ROTATIONS

24 month core AP rotations

  • 4 Cytology/FNA
  • 4 Autopsy + LA Coroner’s Office
  • 14 Surgical Pathology (7 specialized surgical pathology rotations, twice each + endoscopic GI biopsies

18 month core CP rotations

  • 1 Cytogenetics/Immunogenetics
  • 1 Senior Lab Director (BB/HVT)
  • 2 Molecular Pathology with Informatics
  • 3 Clinical Chemistry
  • 3 Microbiology (COLA/REQIPP)
  • 3 Transfusion Medicine
  • 4 Hematopathology
  • 1 CP-Flex (additional month of any core CP rotation)

Advanced AP Rotations
Senior, fellowship-level AP rotations from the well-established Surgical Pathology Fellowship:

  • Frozen Section
  • Junior Attending at UCLA
  • Junior Attending at Santa Monica

Advanced CP Rotations
Senior, fellowship-level CP rotations in clinical laboratories including Clinical Chemistry, Cytogenetics, Immunogenetics, Microbiology, Molecular Pathology, or Transfusion Medicine

The AP/CP program is a combined format with clinical pathology (CP) and anatomic pathology (AP) rotations intermixed throughout the four years of training.
