Retired Marine Gunnery Sergeant Guillermo “TJ” Gunnery Sergeant Guillermo Tejada was born in El Salvador, and grew up in Los Angeles, Ca where he eventually joined the Marine Corps in 1999. GySgt Tejada went to boot camp in San Diego, Ca. Upon completion of boot camp he went to the School of Infantry and became a Basic Rifleman. He went on to serve in 3rd Battalion 5th Marines from 1999-2004 where he deployed two times with that unit to various places around the world . From 2005-2008 he served as a Canvassing Recruiter in Phoenix AZ, where he assisted numerous Americans realizing their dreams of serving this great country.

In 2008 he got orders back to 3rd Battalion 5th Marines. On September of 2010 he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. On November 11th while on a foot patrol in Sangin, Afghanistan he was seriously injured by and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) where he lost both legs upon impact. After being medically evacuated back to America and going through numerous surgeries he was stabilized at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He was then transferred to Naval Medical Center San Diego (Balboa) where he underwent intense rehabilitation for his new life as a double leg amputee.
