About

Dr. Nisha Viswanathan is a primary care and extensivist physician who practices in Santa Monica and Westwood. She works with medically complex patients and coordinates their care between the inpatient/hospital setting and the outpatient/clinic setting. She is Co-director of the UCLA Health COVID-19 ambulatory monitoring program and Director of the UCLA Long COVID program. She is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians, and is board certified in internal medicine.

Dr. Viswanathan received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She then completed her internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She earlier received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Miami.

Dr. Viswanathan is a clinical instructor in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and is involved in resident education. She also researches gender-based differences in the medical profession, such as barriers that keep women from reaching leadership positions and why female physicians are promoted at a lower rate.

Dr. Viswanathan was raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. She speaks fluent Tamil and conversational Spanish. When not working, she enjoys outdoor activities, such as hiking and swimming, as well as traveling, reading, and hanging out with her husband and fluffy Shih Tzu.
