2012 RSNA Trainee Research Prize Recipients: Dr. Alessia Tognolini, Dr. Sarah N Khan and Ms. Jacqueline L Hollada
UCLA Radiological Sciences is pleased to announce that Dr. Alessia Tognolini, Dr. Sarah N Khan and Ms. Jacqueline L Hollada from the Diagnostic Cardiovascular Imaging section have each been individually awarded 2012 RSNA Trainee Research Prizes.

Awarded Research Project:
"Cardiac Perfusion MRI at 3.0T with Cold Pressor Test for the Assessment of Endothelial Dysfunction in Type 2 Diabetic Patients"
Dr. Alessia Tognolini, MD, under the mentorship of Dr. Stefan Ruehm, MD, PhD, Professor of Radiology and Director of Cardiovascular CT, has received the Trainee Research Prize for her case-control study investigating the feasibility of stress myocardial perfusion MRI with cold pressor test for the assessment of coronary endothelial dysfunction in diabetic patients.

Awarded Research Project:
"Metallic Pediatric Interventional Devices: Prediction of Artifacts on MRI by Ex-vivo Characterization"
Dr. Sarah N Khan, MD, under the mentorship of Dr. J Paul Finn, MD, Professor of Radiology and Section Chief, Diagnostic Cardiovascular Imaging has been awarded the Trainee Research Prize for a study evaluating the type and extent of MR artifact caused by pediatric interventional, catheter based devices including stents, septal occluders, vascular plugs and embolization coils.
Jacqueline L Hollada
Awarded Research Project:
"Successful Patient Recruitment: What Drives or Deters Patient Participation in Radiological Research Studies?"
Ms. Jacqueline L Hollada, a UCLA undergraduate student, under the mentorship of Dr. Stefan Ruehm, MD, PhD, Professor of Radiology and Director of Cardiovascular CT, and Dr. Wanda Marfori, CT Research Manager, has received the Trainee Research Prize for her analysis of the factors impacting patient participation in cardiovascular CT clinical trials.
