About

Dr. Ramin Salehi-Rad is a pulmonologist and a critical care physician who sees patients in Westwood and West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. His primary clinical interests are lung cancer and pulmonary nodules. He also treats patients with a wide variety of pulmonary conditions, including but not limited to COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and pulmonary embolism. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine. 

Dr. Salehi-Rad grew up in Iran before moving to the United States. He received his Medical Degree combined with a PhD at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he was elected co-President of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor society. He then completed internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care fellowship at UCLA. 

As a physician scientist, Dr. Salehi-Rad conducts translational and basic research in lung cancer. His research is focused on improving our understanding of the immunopathogenesis of lung cancer to develop novel approaches for cancer immunotherapy. Dr. Salehi-Rad is also a participant or a lead in clinical trials focused on early cancer detection and immunotherapy for advanced lung cancer. He is an active participant in the national consortia in lung cancer, including the NCI Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN) and Early Detection Research Network (EDRN) as well as the Stand-Up-To-Cancer (SU2C) Lung Cancer Interception Dream Team.  

Dr. Salehi-Rad is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He has been a member of the multidisciplinary Clinical Thoracic Conference and Nodule Conference at UCLA since 2014. He is an active member of the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), American Thoracic Society (ATS), and American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST).
