Dr. Reena Patel is a native of Los Angeles and is proud to be working as a UCLA physician providing cardiovascular care to members of her community. Dr. Patel earned her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. She completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology at the Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Patel is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and additionally in adult Echocardiography and Cardiac CT. She is Assistant Clinical Professor at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine.
Dr. Patel provides comprehensive general cardiology care for adults focusing on the diagnosis and management of chest pain, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias and valvular heart disease. Her research in heart valve disease has been published in leading medical journals. She has a special interest in preventative medicine and helps patients gain control of their cardiac risk factors including high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and diabetes. She has helped many patients achieve weight loss goals through lifestyle modification and medical therapy when needed. Dr. Patel is actively involved in managing non-invasive cardiology testing for patients in the South Bay which include stress tests, heart ultrasounds and additionally heart monitors for patients suffering from ongoing palpitations.
Dr. Patel holds a Master’s degree from The Johns Hopkins University in women’s health and is currently the Director of the South Bay UCLA Women’s Heart Health Program. She has hospital privileges at Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Little Company of Mary Hospital and UCLA.
On her off time, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with her husband and children.
