General Robotic Surgery at UCLA

One of the more exciting promises in robotic surgery is in the field of general surgery. For so long, general surgeons were unable to use approaches with small incisions because they needed access to the entire surgical area.

With robotic surgery, surgeons can use the flexible instruments the robotic arms provide, as well as enhanced magnification and the ability to move the camera to different arms to control what they can see.  This combination means that general surgeons can now think about using robotic surgery for complex cases.
