Image-guided Spine Surgery

The UCLA Comprehensive Spine Center is at the forefront of making computer-navigated image guidance via robotic technology an integral part of spine surgery.

The Spine Center is establishing a basic science laboratory to make advances in this area. In addition, Spine Center surgeons routinely use these novel technologies to assist in complex spinal surgeries. As a result, several conditions can now be treated with greater precision and ease.

These include tumors, degenerative diseases associated with significant congenital or acquired deformities, and trauma or inflammatory conditions at the skull base and upper cervical spine. In the near future, nearly all spine surgical procedures will be enhanced by image guidance.

Our doctors are excited to be pioneering such remarkable advances.
