John M. Liebes, a UCLA alumnus (’52) and prominent figure in the Los Angeles real-estate community, died August 15, 2015, in Santa Monica, California, at the age of 84. Born in San Francisco and raised in Westwood, Liebes served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He was an integral member for 20 years of the Board of Advisors of UCLA Health - Santa Monica Medical Center, and together with his late wife Gail, was a generous benefactor of the university. Liebes is survived by his children Alison and Chris and his five grandchildren. Liebes was a loyal Bruin and in his memory, his family and friends have contributed more than $250,000 toward two initiatives: the John and Gail Liebes Family Scholarship to support UCLA medical students with financial need and the UCLA Health - Santa Monica Medical Center, Partners for Care Fund.
