The new HG Care app is now available to download for iOS devices
Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG), a condition during pregnancy characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and electrolyte disturbance. In a joint effort between UCLA Health Information Technology, Dr. Marlena Fejzo, and the HER Foundation, the HG Care app was developed to help pregnant women sick from nausea/vomiting or suffering from HG.
What It Does
The HG Care app is a tool that helps pregnant women monitor their symptoms and alerts them to take action if needed. Features include:
- Communicating to health care professionals exactly what medications were taken and how sick the patient feels
- Tracking how much (or little) was eaten and if treatments are working
- Sending an alert when weight drops or if the patient is getting dehydrated and needs medical attention.
- Reminding patients to take their medications, check blood sugar levels, and change their IV if needed
By keeping track of symptoms, patients receive insights into their care and can take action before a condition becomes serious.
