UCLA Health has been named among the best places to work by two publications specializing in business/leadership and healthcare, respectively: Forbes and Becker’s Healthcare.

The Forbes ranking for 2018 lists UCLA Health as one of America’s Best Midsize Employers. The ranking is based on an independent survey of more than 30,000 U.S. employees working for companies of at least 1,000 employees. The Forbes ranking, 43 in the nation among all industries, highlights the pride that UCLA Health employees have in their institution.

The Becker’s Healthcare listing, 150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare | 2018, focuses on hospitals, health systems and healthcare companies that promote diversity within the workforce, employee engagement and professional growth, and that offer benefits and opportunities for employees to build successful careers above and beyond the average healthcare provider or company. The publication developed the list based on nominations and editorial research.

In short, the methodologies were different, but the conclusions were the same: As an employer, UCLA Health stands out among its peers.

“UCLA Health is extremely pleased to be recognized for our commitment to our employees and for ourworkplace environment,” said Dr. John Mazziotta, vice chancellor for UCLA Health Sciences and CEO of UCLA Health. “Our employees are at the heart of our organization’s ability to provide high-quality, patient-focused medical care, education and research, and we’re gratified that they’re proud of our institution and its mission – and that our efforts on their behalf are similarly recognized.”

The publication also featured Mazziotta and Johnese Spisso, president of UCLA Health and CEO of the UCLA Hospital System, in its 2018 listing of 100 Great Leaders in Healthcare | 2018. Beckers described the individuals on the list as those work to improve the quality of care and to solve the toughest problems in healthcare.

Taken together, the three listings highlight UCLA Health’s overarching commitment to patient care and to the work environment.

“The overall well-being of our employees is critical to the success of UCLA Health, and we’re appreciative of Becker’s Healthcare’s and Forbes’ recognition of our efforts on their behalf,” said Susi Takeuchi, chief human resources officer for UCLA Health. “Our employees embody the best of our institution, making it one of the top healthcare organizations in the world, and we will continue to support them and encourage their development.”
