UCLA to collaborate with Korean science and tech institute on research, training, education

WHAT:
Officials from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology in Seoul, South Korea, will sign a special memorandum of understanding at UCLA, creating a partnership to promote education, training, research, technology transfers, and exchanges in teaching and scholarly activities in the areas of neuroscience and molecular imaging. 
 
The two institutions will develop joint projects that may help advance research and treatments for neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, stroke, and Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

Dr. Jorge R. Barrio
Elizabeth and Thomas Plott Professor of Gerontology and distinguished professor of molecular and medical pharmacology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA
 
Dr. Thomas Rosenthal
Associate vice chancellor for health sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and chief medical officer of the UCLA Health
 
Dr. Ae Nim Pae
Head of the Neuro-Medicine Center in the Life/Health Division at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology
 
Dr. Dongjin Kim
Principal research scientist and head of the Center of Chemoinformatics Research at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology
 
Dr. Youngsoo Kim
Senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology
 
Dr. Gyochang Keum
Senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology

Cars: From Wilshire Boulevard, head north on Gayley Avenue. Just past Le Conte Avenue, turn right and park in the patient parking area of Parking Lot 1. Walk north on Gayley to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, located just before Charles E. Young Drive South. Use the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital entrance, located next to the emergency room.
 
Oversized news vans: From Wilshire Boulevard, head north on Gayley Avenue. After passing Le Conte Avenue, and just before Charles E. Young Drive South, park at the yellow curb on the east side of northbound Gayley. Display press credentials on dashboard. There is no parking permitted north of Charles E. Young Drive South. To reach the executive board room, use the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital entrance, located next to the emergency room. (map)
