HealthCanal.com reported on a study led by Owen Witte, MD about the effects of Trop2 protein on prostate cancer tumor cell growth.

October 2012

News organizations such as UPI.com, and US News Health posted articles about the effects of green tea on prostate cancer. Research by UCLA SPORE in Prostate Cancer investigator Susanne Henning, PhD, RD was spotlighted.  

UCLA SPORE in Prostate Cancer investigators were featured in articles by the Prostate Cancer Foundation:

1. A Nine-Gene Signature Identified for Aggressive Prostate Cancers (Howard Scher, MD).

2. Mystery of TROP2 Protein Unveiled (Owen Witte, MD; Jiaoti Huang, MD, PhD; Andrew Goldstein, PhD).

June 2012

The Prostate Cancer Foundation released a number of articles highlighting research by UCLA SPORE in Prostate Cancer investigators including the following:

1. Moving Research and Management Forward for Men with Treatment-Resistance Metastatic Prostate Cancer (Robert Reiter, MD).

2. RNA Prognostic Model Predicts Survival for Men with Prostate Cancer (Howard I Scher, MD).

3. UCSF Reports on Abiraterone Clinical Trial, PCF-Funding Leads Innovative Research Team (Howard I Scher, MD).

4. Team of PCF-Funded Researchers Present MDV3100 Trial Results at ASCO (Howard I. Scher, MD).

5. PCF-Funded Researchers Present on Cabozantinib (XL184) Data Results at ASCO Conference (Howard I. Scher, MD).

April 2012 

The Prostate Cancer Foundation released an article titled "Dr. Charles Sawyers Discusses the Coming of Age in Pathway - Targeted Therapeutics, MDV3100" which included information about Dr. Sawyers' plenary session at the AACR conference.

January 2012

Daniel Margolis, MD, discussed the results of a study that emphasized the importance of MRI imaging for treatment planning in patients that will undergo robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy for prostate cancer. The study was reported by NursingTimes.net and MedPage Today. Dr. Margolis is a past SPORE Career Development recipient.

Allan Pantuck, MD, MS, FACS is the lead author of a study that showed the effects on pomegranate juice consumption and PSA results. The results of the study were reported by Medical Discussions.com.
