Fusion Biopsy: Prostate Cancer Imaging (Fusion Biopsy Stidy)
Technical Title: Biopsy Tracking and MRI Fusion to Enhance Imaging of Cancer Within the Prostate
Disease Type: Prostate Cancer
Basic information:
The purpose of this observational study is to evaluate the accuracy of imaging, tracking and targeting of suspicious lesions of the prostate using the Artemis device, which fuses MRI and ultrasound images to guide the biopsy. The ultimate goals are to diagnose serious cancers earlier and follow low-risk cancers more accurately.
Research Procedures (not a complete list):
Patients will be invited to take part in this observational study if they are planned to undergo MRI-ultrasound targeted fusion biopsies as part of their regular care. Researchers will outline suspicious areas in patients' MRI exams. MRI images will be fused with a patient's ultrasound image using the Artemis device. The suspicious areas will be targeted during the biopsy, and up to 4 additional biopsy cores may be taken. The biopsy tissue sample could be used to create a database, repository, or for research in future studies. Clinical data will also be collected from patients’ charts.
