Vasculitis is a rare group of conditions in which the immune system attacks the blood vessels and causes inflammation. In most cases, the cause is unknown. These are rare conditions, and most forms of vasculitis affect only several people out of a million. Unfortunately, for those affected with vasculitis, these conditions are very serious and potentially life-threatening. And since there are blood vessels throughout the body, vasculitis often involves multiple areas of the body.
Early recognition and treatment of vasculitis is important to prevent complications. Care of patients with vasculitis requires a team of experts who are familiar with the conditions and its treatment and complications.
The first of its kind in Southern California, the UCLA Vasculitis Program is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team of experts dedicated to meeting the specific needs of patients with vasculitis. Patients with suspected or diagnosed vasculitis, their families and their doctors can all benefit from our program.
