FAQ'S

How often does the Mattel Youth Ambassadors recruit?

Mattel Youth Ambassadors recruit once a year in the Spring, and begin the formal program in July.  The program concludes with an award ceremony in May.

I am not turning 16 until after the program begins. Can I still apply?

You may apply, however, you must be 16 years of age by September 1st of the year you are applying.

Can I volunteer at the hospital in addition to participating in the Mattel Youth Ambassador’s program?

No, the Mattel Youth Ambassador requires a firm commitment with a special focus.  However, following the awards ceremony in May, you can transition to volunteer status and volunteer over the summer. There may be special opportunities and events at the hopsital during the year that you can participte in as part of the program.

What if I don’t reach my fundraising goal?

Youth Ambassadors who do not finish their goal, may continue in the program as long as they meet attendance and participation requirements.  Awards and letters of recommendation will not be issued until goal has been met.

Is this program geared for students interested in the medical field?

The program is geared for students with varying interests, but will focus on careers in the medical field, as well as offer leadership skills and educational opportunities. Many physician round table discussions will be offered as part of the program.

What if I miss more than two meetings?

Attendance is important to stay connected to the program, and fulfill participation requirements.  Cases involving emergency or serious situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Can I conduct joint fundraisers with another Mattel Youth Ambassador?

Joint fundraisers are permissible, but each student is responsible for the minimum $1250 fundraising goal.
