Judith received her undergraduate degree from La Sierra University in Riverside, California, and was awarded a bachelor of laws degree from the University of Southern California Law School. From 1968 to 1997, she worked at Teledyne, Inc., becoming Corporate Secretary in 1987 and General Counsel, as well, in 1990. Judith was responsible for the legal affairs of the firm's insurance and finances subsidiaries, and also was involved in securities, taxation, product liability, and administrative law. While in active law practice, she was a panelist or speaker at the American Bar Association and Practicing Law Institute programs.
For several years, Judith served on the Boards of Directors of the Social and Public Arts Resource Center, Big Sisters of Los Angeles, Semtech Corporation, and Argonaut Group, Inc. In addition, she maintained an organic farm in Brazil, which was an extremely difficult endeavor. Having contracted a tropical illness there, she has chosen to leave the farm in the hands of others - but it was a memorable experience in many ways.
