His research team is working on mutations, methylations and polymorphisms of tumor suppresser genes as well as genome-wide association (GWA) studies of cancer. He has chaired Ph.D. committees for 30 Ph.D. graduates and been a member of Ph.D. committees for 30 Ph.D. graduates since he started at UCLA in 1997. He has trained more 30 post-doctoral fellows.
