Targeted Radiation Therapy at UCLA

With any type of cancer, radiation therapy delivered to cancer cells damages and kills them. But, radiation also reaches the surrounding normal tissue and can damage or destroy it as well.

These side effects may include swallowing difficulty, voice changes, ulceration in throat, pain, and long term scarring. Precision in radiation therapy is very important to help reduce these side effects.

At the UCLA Head and Neck Cancer Program, our highly trained radiation oncologists have years of experience in treating cancer with radiation. They also have the latest technologies and techniques to deliver precision radiation therapy, including:

Tomotherapy
  • 3D conformal therapy
  • Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
  • Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT)
  • Image guided radiation therapy (IGRT)
  • High dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy

In addition to their vast experience, UCLA HNCP radiation oncologists also have the latest technologies and techniques to deliver precision radiation therapy.
